Kasabushi is one of those camps where the setting wins you over straight away. Set on the banks of the Kafue River in Kafue National Park, it delivers that proper bush-camp feeling: big riverside sites, plenty of birdlife, hippos nearby, lions in the distance, and enough atmosphere to make you forget you’re technically just reviewing a campsite.

In this review, we show you what it’s actually like to camp here. The sites are spacious, peaceful, and well positioned along the river, with fire pits, seating, and easy access to the ablutions. And the ablutions really are one of the standout features at Kasabushi — simple, practical, airy, and very well done.

There are a few useful things to know before you book. Kasabushi offers both camping and lodge accommodation, and some of the facilities you might expect from the lodge side don’t necessarily carry over to the campsite. So it’s worth checking exactly what campers have access to before you arrive.

Booking, though, was a pleasure. Communication was quick and personal, the whole process felt easy, and there were a few nice surprises too — including fresh sourdough bread, which turned out to be a proper highlight.

If you like honest campsite reviews, overland travel, and the real mix of comfort, practicality, and bush atmosphere that comes with life on the road, this one’s for you.
