I found this camp up on the edge of Dalbeattie; it has a large car park with easy access to the town and a large forest with plenty of scope for all. There are bike trails and there would be no difficulty finding a secluded spot for a wild camp out. The forest has plenty picnic spots with some really fantastic ones next to the loch.
I can recommend the Chinese restaurant/ take away at the Ship Inn on the edge of the village.
